Does your child seem to learn faster than their peers, ask unusually complex questions, or need more challenge than the standard classroom provides? Colorado's Gifted and Talented (GT) programs offer advanced learning opportunities for students who demonstrate exceptional academic aptitude, but accessing these programs typically requires a formal cognitive evaluation. We offer efficient, high-quality IQ testing for GT placement, with cognitive reports delivered within 48 hours of your child's testing appointment.

48 hours

Most GT testing reports are delivered via email within 48 hours of your child's appointment, fast enough to meet most school nomination and enrollment deadlines.

01 — Understanding

What Is Gifted & Talented Testing?

Gifted and Talented testing for school placement purposes consists of a standardized intelligence (IQ) test administered by a licensed psychologist. The results are used by Colorado schools and districts to determine eligibility for GT programs, advanced coursework, or differentiated learning opportunities. Our GT evaluation includes:

  • A full, standardized IQ test (such as the WISC-V for school-age children) is administered by a licensed psychologist.

  • A concise written report including scores and a summary of cognitive findings, appropriate for submission to your child's school or district.

Please note: this is a focused evaluation designed specifically for GT placement. It does not include academic achievement testing, adaptive behavior assessment, or comprehensive psychological testing. If you have additional concerns beyond GT placement, please mention these during your consultation so we can discuss the most appropriate evaluation type.

02 — Who It's For

Why Get Tested Privately?

While some Colorado schools conduct their own GT screenings, many families pursue private evaluations because:

  • School-based screenings may have limited slots or long wait times.

  • Private evaluations allow for a more controlled, individualized testing environment.

  • A licensed psychologist's report is accepted by virtually all Colorado school districts.

  • Families want the results quickly. Our 48-hour turnaround means you won't be waiting weeks.

  • The evaluation may reveal additional information about your child's cognitive profile that informs their educational planning.

03 — The process

What to Expect

GT testing appointments are typically shorter than our comprehensive evaluations. Your child will come to our Wheat Ridge office for a one-on-one testing session with a licensed psychologist. The IQ test involves a variety of tasks, some verbal, some visual-spatial, some involving working memory or processing speed, presented in a game-like format appropriate for children. Most children find the experience engaging rather than stressful.

Following the testing session, we score and interpret the results, and you will receive a written report via email within 48 hours. The report includes standardized IQ scores and a brief narrative summary that can be submitted directly to your child's school.

Scheduling & Availability

GT testing appointments are often available on short notice. We understand that school GT nomination windows and enrollment deadlines can be time-sensitive, and we do our best to accommodate families quickly. Please contact us as soon as you know testing is needed.
